How it works
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is VerdictFirst?
A tool that stops you from building something nobody wants.
You run customer conversations. VerdictFirst tracks commitment signals, not compliments - and helps you reach a clear BUILD, EXTEND, PIVOT, or PASS verdict before you sink months into the wrong thing.
How does the verdict work?
You decide. VerdictFirst makes the evidence impossible to ignore.
You set your riskiest assumptions and walk-away criteria upfront:
"3 paid pilots in 30 days, or I stop."
Then VerdictFirst weights every signal by how hard it is to fake:
- Payment / preorder / paid pilot
- Signed LOI / budget confirmed
- Warm intro to decision-maker
- "Sounds cool"
Supporting evidence builds confidence. Contradicting evidence chips away at it. When the pattern is undeniable:
- BUILD Repeated commitment from people who can pay. Go.
- EXTEND Promising, but noisy. Run more conversations.
- PIVOT Wrong problem or wrong segment. Shift.
- PASS Weak signal after honest attempts. Walk away.
How many conversations do I need?
5–10 real ones usually reveal the pattern.
One honest conversation with someone who'd actually pay beats ten with people who never will.
What does "local-first" mean?
Your validation data never leaves your device.
VerdictFirst runs entirely in your browser. Your ideas, interviews, assumptions, and evidence are stored locally using IndexedDB. Export or delete everything anytime.
The only exception: if you join the waitlist, your email is sent to our inbox (via FormSubmit). We'll never have access to your validation content.
Technical? Open DevTools → Network tab. Nothing uploads your validation content. Ever.
Why is it free?
Because I burned $40K building something nobody wanted.
No backend. No servers. No infrastructure costs. VerdictFirst is a single-page app that runs in your browser. Keeping it free costs me nearly nothing.
If I ever add paid features, they'll be optional extras - not the thing that saves you from a $40K mistake.
I already started building. Is it too late?
No. It's actually the best time.
You have something real to test. Conversations get sharper when there's something concrete to react to. Five honest interviews now could save you the next six months.
Why is there a waitlist?
We're opening access in waves so early users get a smooth experience and can shape the product.

Who built this?
I'm Peter. After burning $40K on something nobody needed, I built the tool I wished existed.
